Girls Rosebowl 2016

After months of preparation, Tuesday 2nd August saw our Girls Rosebowl squad travel to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to take part in the first Rosebowl Tournament held outside of Northern Ireland for over 10 years.

Despite playing well for spells in all their matches, the girls were unlucky to lose 4-2 again Wales, 9-0 against England and 10-1 against the eventual winners, Scotland.

The girls didn’t let the results get them down, enjoying the trip away and mixing with the other teams.  Besides playing football the girls got the chance to visit the Newcastle Metro Centre, have a tour of St. James Park, a meal out in Newcastle and have a dance battle with the other nations!

Friday saw all the teams presented with their International Honours Caps, before all the teams departed from home.  All the NI girls have now returned to their clubs to finish off the rest of the ladies football season.

After each match the coaches selected a player of the match, who received the pendant presented to the team by that day’s opposition, and on the final day the girls had the chance to vote for their player of the tournament.

Boys & Girls Clubs would like to thank all of the clubs who released their players for the competition, and wish everyone the best of luck with the end of their league and cup campaigns.

Also, thanks to Teamwear Ireland who kitted out both our boys and girls U17 teams this year with their training kits.
