I have agreed with Executive colleagues a programme of targeted activity during July and August, to support a range of children and young people. This includes permission for youth work settings who wish to do so to provide some limited activities, with a focus on 9-13 year olds and priority those known to youth workers who would most benefit from engaging in youth-led activities.

The Paddy Duffy Award was established in 2002 by the principal officers of Boys & Girls Clubs to support the values, style and approach of Paddy Duffy – a much loved and highly regarded voluntary youth leader and vice-president of Boys & Girls Clubs.
Paddy epitomised many of the personal qualities that are characteristic of good youth workers and fair play for all.
This year’s recipient of the Paddy Duffy Award is Cliodhna Liggett from Newtownabbey. Cliodhna has spent six years on the Youth Council which emphasises leadership and is ran by young people like Cliodhna to represent the views of young people to government and decision-makers and to promote participation of young people in society.
Cliodhna will use the Paddy Duffy Award bursary to help continue her education by paying towards fees.
